![Global measles threat: deaths increase by almost 50% in 2022](https://en.sbmt.org.br/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Sarampo.jpeg)
Malaria kills more than 400 thousand people annually worldwide, and is still a public health problem in Brazil, with over 140 thousand cases reported in 2020, especially in the Amazon region. The lethality in Brazil in non-endemic areas is much higher due to late diagnosis. Malaria is a treatable disease, with free diagnostic and treatment in the Unified Health System (SUS), but can progress to severe forms in a few days if not quickly diagnosed and treated.
